I'm having a difficult time getting the v5.1 bypass to work. I followed the readme and have gone through the threads here and haven't found a solution. The issue I am having is after I launch the modified 'start_protected_game.exe' the game attempts to start, but ends up crashing right away. It also looks like the modified 'Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2 - Retail.exe' file removes itself from the client_pc/root/bin/pc directory after the attempt. I also get a "Please put the launcher in game directory first." message from Cheat Evolution somehow if I attempt to initiate a second 'start_protected_game.exe". Once the first launch fails though, I'm unable to edit any files in the Steam folder until I restart my PC, which is a pain. I would greatly appreciate some help here. I feel like I'm missing something stupid.

All I want to do is speed up the leveling grind for Operations mode. Thanks in advance, ... I've uploaded one of my attempts here ...
You need to run the game from steam once youve replaced the "start_protected" and "retail" exes. Don't run the game from the dir, go to steam and launch. Good luck with the grind Brother!
Thanks for the reply! I followed the same exact steps but launched through Steam instead of the "'start_protected_game.exe" and I received the same results, crash to desktop and 'Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2 - Retail.exe' file was removed from the client_pc/root/bin/pc directory. I uninstalled and deleted all Space Marine 2 file from Steam and tried everything again, but still same thing.

UPDATE:

I decided to try launching the game with only replacing the 'start_protected_game.exe' file and leaving the vanilla/unmodified 'Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2 - Retail.exe' alone. The game launched fine (yay!), except the game recognized that the EAC was bypassed and I got a message saying "Modified game files detected (boo). Public online gameplay will be prohibited, and progression will not be saved. (Error code: AVF 1)" ... So I closed the game, swapped in the modified 'Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2 - Retail.exe' into the client_pc/root/bin/pc directory to replace the vanilla .exe which caused the same issues I was having before, launch failure with disappeared modified .exe file ... There is something about the modified 'Warhammer 40000 Space Marine 2 - Retail.exe' that is not working for me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like your anti-virus might be flagging the modified retail .exe and quarantining it. That could be why the file keeps disappearing. I’d recommend uninstalling everything first, then deleting the entire game folder from steamapps just to be safe. After reinstalling and running the game once, try replacing start_protected and retail, but make sure your anti-virus is either disabled or set to allow the retail.exe so it doesn’t get flagged again. Hope that helps!

Hi, I'm having the same problem and I've got everything disabled, including windows defender. There's something going on with the game itself, for sure.

Brother, you have solved my issue. It was indeed my anti-virus that was quarantining the .exe when it attempted to launch. I wish the anti-virus would have at least notified me, would have saved me a lot of time. Anyway, THANK YOU!

I would definitely check quarantine for ALL anti-virus you have installed on your computer. The .exe will be stored in quarantine if you were having the same exact problems that I was.

Okay so sike, it actually was working. There was just a hella long black screen, but now I am having a weird problem.... I can load into the game, get to the battle barge, interact however I want... but anytime I alt-tab out of SM2 it's fine, but when I try to alt-tab back in, it crashes. Every single time. I've tried using borderless, windowed, and fullscreen. Shits the bed every time.

It's interesting because I was having a similar problem on the completely vanilla version of the game, only happened for a few sessions though. The game would just be frozen when I alt-tabbed in. I ended up just uninstalling and reinstalling the game entirely and haven't experienced it since, even with the modified game. Not sure if that is a true fix though or if I got lucky.

i'm travelling at the moment so i'm not sure when i can get to it. additionally, things change every update and so even once i look at it there's an open question when a patch will be ready. it'll be a personal priority for me though... and Klerik might beat me to it all the same

UPDATE: patch notes show "Improved Anti-Cheat", so don't hold your breath. :) AND STOP USING THIS IN PVP YOU DEGENERATES

Don't worry Brother, Klerik or Doobiedoo will most likely release a patch updating this. They're awesome, and we must wait and be patient :)

Yeah, will be interesting to see what that means in practice. If that proves hard to circumvent, a patch with no .cache checks is still very valuable since it lets you play with mods without the progress and matchmaking restrictions.

yep, new checks in place that occur when you join PvE matches. i'll have to spend some time to research and test. it's possible to bypass checks to get onto the Battle Barge and use Cheat Engine to modify resources (incl the new Data resource) but just like in v5, they have checks for when you're actively playing that detect modified PAKs.

my hope is that they have checks for PvE and PvP so that i can disable only PvE checks.

I really appreciate you working on the patch despite being so busy with travel! I hope everything goes smoothly and we see the patch released as soon as it’s ready. I also share your hope that the PvP checks stay intact—that should really help keep things under control and prevent any heretics from causing issues in PvP. Thanks again for all your hard work!

Even if we just get a bypass to run CE on battlebarge so we can play with the research/currency/etc that would be fantastic :)

I attempted to create a patch for you with the limited knowledge I have, but unfortunately, my skills aren't quite there yet. We'll have to wait for Klerik or doobiedoo to handle the patch, as they're much more experienced with this! Apologies.
