Anyone has the ID of the new nametag item yet?

Not in the injector yet.
You can work around that by using chng to transform Ancients (or any Artifact, even ones you don't have) into Eldritches:

chng bEngine.getGameAttribute("Sailing")[3][X]=3

With X being the ID of the Artifact.
Replace X with 0, then 1, then 2 etc. until 29 to make every arti Eldritch, then reenter the map.

Of course people have been banned, just search through the thread. It's shadowbanning a.k.a your account is flagged and then you can't play with others. Lava can very easily ban accounts outright who have been shadowbanned should he choose to.

It largely depends on what you're doing if you get caught or not. It's also possible to brick your account on your own by changing the wrong things.

Anyway, I've tried starting the game but it crashes as soon as character selection is loaded, does it need a new version perhaps? As we just got an update. Or am I doing something wrong ?

I was in the same boat when I found this initially. Spent quite a bit to support the game over time. Then I find out from Lava himself when he is talking publically that blue gems are insecure and "easily hackable". So then I came here and now I get everything for free instead.

Doesn't come without risk of course. But if my account is scrutinized, there are plenty of legit transactions on it.

As for your other bit, I had that issue of crashing only once - then it worked just the same as before.

May or may not have completely botched my account, my damage is set to NaN-NaN on all my characters, after I tried to get the dungeon credits to drop more than 1 at a time. Anyone got any ideas how to reverse this, or is the account screwed?

For dropping items, it's as simple as typing drop itemID
If you'd want to drop the nametag, use drop EquipmentNametag1.

The chng command mentioned in there is a simple copy paste. It should work, just make sure to replace the mentioned Xs as mentioned in the post.

Nothing else required, just run the Injector, wait until the game runs, enter with a character, then copy paste the command in the prompt.
