In regards to experience, after changing it you need to kill an enemy to trigger a level up for your character.

Numpad 1 = Add 5000 XP
Numpad 2 = +1 Strength
Numpad 3 = +1 Agility
Numpad 4 = +1 Arcane
Numpad 5 = +1 Vitality
