In the text explain:
"I've been using cheat engine by doing the following (wall of text ahead):
1. Go to a pile that has multiples of something in it and move the stack into your inventory and search for the value (the more the better here)
2. Remove one of the the item from your inventory and search again. Repeat this until you find the address that contains the value (should be 4 byte I believe) and add it to your list.
3. Go back into and put the full amount of the stack back into your inventory
4. Back in Cheat Engine, right click on the result in your list and choose "Find out what accesses this address" (or press F5 with the result selected). It will ask if you want to attach the debugger, which you do.
4. Go back into the game and remove 1 of the stack you've been working with.
5. In cheat engine, the window that shows the opcodes that accessed the address should have a list and one of them should be a "dec" opcode. This is what is decrementing the value of the stack.
6. Select the dec line and click Replace to replace it with nop. From here click Add to Codelist to get the codelist window to popup.
7. At this point, you can return to the game and move whole stacks (or one at a time if you want) back and forth without values going down. Note: Keep in mind however, that you may want to clear out a stack for the room it will give you to place things, at which point:
8. In cheat engine, you can use the codelist window and right click on the entry to "Restore with original code" and values and stacks will move around as per usual, allowing you to grab all of a stack. Use "Replace with code that does nothing" again when you want to move stacks around again.
As far as I've found, this works between days and you can simply go back to cheat engine and use the codelist to switch between code options as needed, though I usually leave it with the original code unless I'm actually wanting to get more of something.
I try to keep the total amount of inventory kept a bit lower to try avoid it crashing and tried to go not too far above 500, certainly lower than 1000. Also, some items you may not need a lot of since they're used for upgrades, so it may make sense only to make a smaller stack, maybe 50 or 100.
Also a useful idea is to make sure at least ONE of the piles in your house is kept with 1 item in there so that it doesn't disappear as a usable pile (I use the top left wardrobe) and you can use it to make larger amounts of new items that you make or scavenge.
