Hi, all.
I have been using cheat engine for quite a while now in very basic instances like editing money in a game. I was playing Riptide Renegade GP and wanted to edit the cash. Excuse me beforehand because I have a very basic understanding of how CE works. Usually I'd just search for the current cash amount, then spend a little and narrow down the address until I found it and then I can edit it. Most of the time that works perfectly.
But with Riptide Renegade, I search for the cash and it finds many entries on the first scan. I then spend some cash and do a second scan but the all the addresses disappear.
What should I be searching for instead? I don't know the technical terms as you can see I don't get super in depth in the games, I usually just edit the cash most of the time. Thank you!
What should I be searching in this particular game to edit money?

What type are you searching for? 4 byte? Float? Double? or All?
For starters, Money can be many different types of values. Secondly, it could be that the value you see on the screen is not the true value.

Hi Rhark!
I normally use Scan Type: Exact Value and Value Type : 4 bytes. That setting works quite a lot of the time. But when I use it for this game, I see the value pop up several times on the first scan. Then I spend some of the money, put the new amount in the Value field and perform a Next Scan and nothing comes up.

It's worth trying other data types to ensure you have ruled them out as the potential cause. Rhark has given solid advice.Dr. Dovebread wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 8:53 pmHi Rhark!
