Cheat Engine 7.3 Installer Failing

Hello all,

I am on Windows 10, and I have had 7.2 installed for a long time, and when I tried to install 7.3 recently it failed completely. There are no error messages. The installer seems to think it has successfully installed the software. Once I click "Next" on the first screen, it immediately jumps to the "Cheat Engine is now installed" window with a checkmark to launch the software. However nothing is installed.

The folder I was running the installer from had an exclusion from Windows Defender, my only current anti-virus, and I even excluded the file itself. I later disabled Windows Defender and got the same results.

I am still able to re-install version 7.2 without issue.

Why might these installers be failing, and how can I fix it?

Potentially;

corrupt file (re-download),
reputation based protection is enabled (disable it),
permission issue (ensure you have admin rights),
bad lion is installed (remove it).

It may be something else but these are worthwhile things to check.
