Access Violation

Post by Ylliww »

Hello a rather annoying problem here.
Any time I open Cheat engine or interestingly Cheat evolution I get a little pop up saying "Access Violation".
I've used cheat engine for a number of year but have never experienced this before which has really thrown me.
It does it when no game is open and I have tried restarting multiple times and running it before anything has been loaded.
Cheat engine is in my exclusions from my AV (Windows defender) and I'm at a complete loss as to why this is happening.
Would appreciate any help,
Thanks!

Also does this on a number of version of Cheat engine not just 7.2

Check your autorun folder for additions that aren't part of CE

Anyway for me to know what should/shouldn't normally be there?
I did a fresh install last night if that changes anything?

Check file permissions to ensure you have administrative rights.

Update, only the: "cheatengine-x86_64.exe" version gets access violation; "cheatengine-i386.exe" does not.

Is the game you're trying to hack 64-bit? If I may ask, what game is it?

Game was Valheim, the 64bit version does it before during or after I've played the game so don't think its related to that.

Make sure you have all up to date .NET frameworks if you haven't already. What do you think it's related to? It's possible that your memory is faulty also. I would run memory diagnostics to rule that out; a few passes should suffice.

Ran a memory diagnostic, nothing there.
I think something is not allowing it to be run, or something is incompatible?
I do have an error file being generated now, says I should send it to Darkbyte.
Is it ok to post it here?

Windows Defender, Reputation Based Protection and Badlion are the main contenders for not allowing Cheat Engine to run. Send the log via PM I will see if I can help
