Basically when I try to install CE, it will try to install, I click next, and it crashes. While that happens I get about 10 messages popping up of addresses being blocked.
I've searched and found that CE has malware for some reason, not cool...anyway to install CE? This is driving me insane.
Thanks.

So you found CE "has malware", but not the thousands of post explaining what CE is and is not.

Hard to say what the "addresses" were, but sounds like your AV didn't like the adware.
1. Disable your AV.
2. Download the installer from "cheatengine.org".
3. Install CE, and actually read the instructions. CE has adware, this is so DB can make some money for his efforts, but you don't need to install any of it. If you just blindly hit next you'll install unwanted things.
EDIT:
Remember CE is a hack tool, at no point will your AV like this.

So there's an option to install without adware? I just find it weird how my AV keeps blocking all these addresses when I open CE.

If I disable my AV, won't I get malware anyway? What are those addresses?
Re: Can't install Cheat Engine, installer keeps crashing and virus
It depends, if you make questionable downloads and installs regularly, then yes you probably will get malware. But not from CE, it's an open source program; kinda hard to hide malware when the source code is freely available. If you disable your AV just to download and install CE, whitelist CE, and then restart your AV; no you won't get malware.WhysomanyVirus wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 9:06 amIf I disable my AV, won't I get malware anyway? As far as the addresses go, it's hard to say. "address" has a few different meanings, and you haven't specified which it is. I assume you mean IP addresses, so they're most likely the addresses the adware uses to now which ads/bundleware to put with the installer. If you just install everything and not just CE, then you'll have unwanted installs. And if enough people then report the addresses then the AV companies will flag them; even if what's being reported is false, like "it installed itself" even though the user had an "accept and install" checkbox checked. Just read ALL installers carefully and only accept and install what you actually want.
Or you could become a CE patreon and then you get access to installers without the adware.
I'd also say depending on the AV you have, you may already have malware and just call it your AV. But this is more my option then anything.
