Hey I know this is kind of old but there's an old hack for the world map that still works on the pcsx2 emulator.

You can use it to get to Chesedonia early on and get good equipment.

How do to the hack:

Get to the overworld
Quick save (in case you get stuck)
In the emulator menu, go to CDVD and select "No Disc"
Return to the game and start walking. The Map won't load and you can walk across the water. Use the minimap and compass to get near where you want to be.
Then, go to CDVD and select "Iso"
The game will load the map like normal now.

Repeat to get back to where you were.

this can lead to bugs and stuff if you get to a place you aren't supposed to be yet but Chesedonia is safe to get to right as soon as you get overworld access.
