Hello everyone.
Decided to give this title a go, courtesy of Netflix and their Season 1 movie, which I found quite entertaining. This will be one of those posts where you'll pretty much ask yourselves why is this guy still doing it. Well, first-up, I'm curious what developers always leave behind. Secondly, I'm into things that have never been done. What I meant with that last bit: if you google up this game title online you'll find trainers, videos that teach you how to do this and that, but no reference on a CONSOLE enabler or at least a mod that would lead to that. Nada. The only thing I could find is stuff related to Witcher 3. It's like trainers are enough for people to just play the game and nothing else. Well, as you'll see, I've had other plans. Hold tight.
In order to get any leads on the console (I knew there would be one), I did a little research. The game runs on Aurora Engine, also used in other BioWare titles. One of them is Neverwinter Nights, which also received an upgrade, the Enhanced Edition being available for download. So I started with that. Found out where the console functionality is, how the functions are called and devised some logic which I'd replicate in The Witcher. Took me several hours (started at midnight, finished at 5.00 in the morning), but I've got the hang of it. While at it, I've also found a list of commands and variables you can tweak to make your life easier.
The purpose of this topic isn't: scanning memory with CE, debugging values you found via scanning, telling me I could've done this easier this way or used a trainer to fast-up the process. No, this topic is about research. Setting a goal, devising logic or means to achieve it and doing it.
Like I said, google doesn't return any results on someone having enabled the console in this game. Don't care if it's a 13 years old game, also that no one cares for what I'm about to post. I'll just leave it here for those interested in the process and result. For now, FRF is the only place where you'll see this; please remember to give proper credits or mention the source if you plan to leech it (e.g.: there's lots of mods on Nexus; I kinda have a feeling people will leech content there and create a nice article out of my work).
On with the stuff.
In order to enable the console, change g_cAuroraSettings.m_nDebugMode from 0 to 1.
That will allow you to press Tilde key (~ or `) on the keyboard to show/hide the console. It will show up top to your left-side of the screen. (Note: No, unfortunately I don't know or want to waste time finding out how to change the hotkey; you'll have to manage.)
Several notes:
- the console text is white (haven't yet gotten around changing font color) and the spacing is a bit retarded given the in-use font (you might think you hit space key, though it's just the display of characters that tricks you)
- Ctrl+V doesn't work yet; it does work in Neverwinter Nights, but there the console is managed via SDL APIs (whereas the Ctrl+V is processed separately, reading clipboard and pushing each clipboard character into the console buffer for display); I'll probably update the table with added functionality
- you can use Up/Down to cycle through already entered commands, just so you don't have to re-type them again; the history is not kept in some text file, thus once you close the game, bye bye history
- TAB key while console is shown will cycle through all available commands/variables the more you press the key; works also with partial typed text in the console so the results are limited to your intended command; that's what I used to dump the below list
- the command/variable names are case-sensitive; type them as you see them or you'll get a Lua error (it's shown right after the command is entered on the 2nd field)

No idea what it does, perhaps works in older games done with this engine.

dm_gettime
Displays current world time.
dm_settime <x> <y> <z> <t>
This function will set the game time in the module to the specified hour, minute, second, and millisecond.
(e.g.: dm_settime 1 0 0 0 - sets game time to 1:00 AM)
Note #1: minutes setting doesn't really work here, so always stick to round forms (12 0 0 0; 16 0 0 0).
Note #2: you can trim it down to something like dm_settime 0; where 0 is 10:30; then increments of 1 -> dm_settime 1 = 11:30; dm_settime 9 = 19:30
dm_jumptopoint <x> <y>
Taken as is from the Wiki ([Link]). Typing it without params will teleport you in Chapter 1 close to Odo's House. Always.
First-up, run trace getplayerpos to track your position. Then head to where you wanted (e.g.: Inn) and write down in Notepad++ or w.e., a piece of paper, your "real:" values (e.g.: 1602 1403 places you right in front of the Inn in Act 1, Vizima). Then go to wherever you want and simply load up the coordinates when you want to teleport back to the Inn.
(e.g.: dm_jumptopoint 1602 1403 - note that you can also bind this to a key; look up)
dm_levelup
Will cause your XP to reach the max of the level you're at. To reach next level kill something.
dm_movetoarea <area>
Taken as is from the Wiki ([Link]). It needs a list of areas from D'jinii or something as parameter.
dm_spawncreature <creature>
This function will effectively cause the player to summon the specified creature. Need to look into D'jinni or something for IDs.
dm_spawnitem <item>
This function will create the specified item on the ground under the mouse cursor. Need to look into D'jinni or something for IDs.
getgamephase
Displays current Act you're in.

getmapinfo
Displays map information.

getplayerpos
Returns the player position on map. Recommend using it with 'trace'.
(e.g.: trace getplayerpos -> result is: getplayerpos: map: 625 464, reg: 7, real: 1671.691284 1478.375488, r-c: 1671.562744 1478.255981)
trace
Useful command if you want to display the result of a command on-screen. It will appea in bottom left and NOT vanish after 2-3s.
(e.g.: trace getplayerpos)
Note #1: This command will trace any updates of the command you're giving it to monitor. As such, once you start moving with the player, you'll see your position constantly updating.
untrace
Cleans all currently traced commands.
g_cAuroraSettings.m_fMapRevealRange
Change this to whichever value you want. (default: 30) - I increased it to 100.
g_cAuroraSettings.m_nBattleFadeDuration
Change this to whichever value you want (default: 2000) - I personally would like the fade to be instant, so I set it to 0.

The table contains another script for now, which allows you to dump all console commands to CE's Lua window. What you need to do is to first set g_cAuroraSettings.m_nDebugMode to 1. Then enable "Dump Console Text" script. In-game, press Tilde (~ or `) to show up the console, then press TAB key to start cycling commands. As soon as you do that, this will happen:
The TAB cycle limits 15 commands to be shown in a go, so keep pressing that key to populate the Lua window
If you don't want the Lua window to pop-up taking the focus every time you press TAB just disable the "Show on "print"" option from the Lua Engine window > View menu.
