Some marketing guys started it, probably. When they put some offers like 3=2 (buy 2 and get 3rd for free)
Also, you can change some variables like that in coding, so if you imagine that 10_heroic_kill and 1_heroic_kill are variables, then it looks like changing variables - 10_heroic_kill variable was changed to the new one, 1_heroic_kill. Which kinda makes sense in the context
