Haven't gotten into it yet really, but I usually like these types of games.
At least while progressing through it the first time, unlocking things.
Not usually too much replayability after that though. :(

I'm hearing a lot of complaints about tedium which will likely translate to requests for mods/cheats. Money is the easy one.

The harder ones will be making the game enable "Distract" automatically on Investigators so that you dont have to micromanage so much. Not sure if "smarts" would help that. Make it easier to run missions on the world stage multiple times without having to manually do it.

actually there is a 'zone priority' in the game that you can research which will tag agents that wander into certain areas that you mark.

Does that work in the casino area? I know that you can add cameras with some effort but I'm not that far myself yet. Just noting what I overheard streamers complain about who have played it for several hours.

usually theres a corridor just beyond your cover operation that starts with two doors. You can set that spot as a distract zone. I do that, then set traps behind the door in case no one gets to them first.

It in fact does work with the casino.

Zanzer, that was super fast, man, thanks! Listen, I know how this sounds, but I wonder if I could make a request of you? The BIG thing that bugs me about this one is EXACTLY the same thing that bugged me about the first one which is research gating. It's a bullshit mechanic, let me research whatever I want. So I was wondering if (in addition to the instant research) you could maybe look into the pointer that makes research available or not? In other words, that removes the "Progress further in the story to research this" line from the campaign? I'd be very grateful, it's killing the game for me having to pick between sandbox which has no story or endgoal and campaing which gates my every move. Thanks a lot for hearing me out!

I am asking because I have not picked it up yet.
Spacebase Startopia was a good reminder not to buy games just because their predecessors were good.
And so, I wonder how this game fares - I loved Evil Genius and I just don't want to be disappointed again with a bad sequel.
Cheers!

I think the Instant Smarts Recovery is bugging the game out, when I activate it, some of the minions that I sent on the Global Operations are not proceeding to the objective at all.

Having played it a few hours, there are some UI annoyances. Too many clicks to get to "side missions", the camera rotation is a bit iffy (might be some setting I need there), the holding cells only show occupation from certain angles. There are also some things that annoyed me, like can't multi-tag agents, but researching the right things does that automatically, so that was just me not knowing the mechanics yet. Also the "signal strength" seems to be a bit low, but again I suspect I am missing something obvious. It can't be that you need 100 stations to get your criminal networks up to max level. Still a few things I need to figure out here and there I imagine.

There are also some bad choices. The voice lines for the Geniuses are all the same, which is somewhat disappointing as they should have been unique.

That said, I am having a lot of fun. They made some right choices with having it in one island, but multiple floors. I also suspect that most of my "this is wrong/this can't be right" utterances are me doing things in a non-ideal way, and I think it is a good successor to a childhood memory (there could be some "rose tinted glasses" effect in my opinion though)

Found something under the Settings pointer.
That may be the switch for Creative Mode on/off.
I named it Unlock All.

This did nothing for me so far, Z, but I'm very interested in it. Like I said, I'm only looking for a way to "unlock research" or "no requirement research" or possibly even just a button to "research all". This did not put me in sandbox mode in the campaign, though, any special instructions? Thanks again, sir"
