Expedition 33 speed hack weirdness

This happens when I use speed hack at only 2x speed:

Don't know why but whenever I use speed hack in expedition 33, the game becomes super stuttery and does not return to normality like every other single player game (even monster hunter wilds on single player) that I use speed hack in.
I've literally never had a single player game that didn't work with cheat engine speed hack until this one.

I've tried lowering the graphics, I've tried limiting the frame rate, I've tried switching to full screen only or borderless full screen.
None of them seem to let it work.
Checking task manager it says the game is maxing out the cpu.
Any chance someone knows a quick fix?

I'm using CE v7.6 and I've tried the default x86_64 and the "cheatengine-x86_64-SSE4-AVX2" versions in and out of admin mode. Both stutter.
