Indeed the game is fun, tried the cheat, for me its the other way around, player not recognized and ship god mode works like a charm, or am I missing something, / clicking the wrong buttons ?

Player God Mode works when you're not in ship mode.

Ship God Mode works only when you're controlling a ship.
