currently in beta, this looks like its going to be a promising revitalization of the original Startopia.

For the moment I can only think of energy and prestige options, but we might find more.

I also think we can probably edit the number of items in the VAL Shop, not sure if we can figure out what it would take to change what items are offered in the shop.

I've been waiting for the next installment of this game for a long time.
I hacked the original to smithereens.
At 50 euros for a standard edition it is way too expensive though - it is not a AAA title -, so I will pick it up only once CODEX puts it on sale.

you wouldn't have happened to come up with any options for controlling the items in the original's buffer, would you? or how many items are in a trader's stock? those were the only things missing there.

it might be interesting to see how similar the two are to each other and how different. not to mention see how well we can hack apart the new and make it dance our tunes.

No, I did not hack the traders at all.

I don't think the code will be similar in any way.
Coding styles have changed a lot since then.
At that time, code was written.
These days, code is built.

actually, I have noticed that they share some things in common. both have their missions stored as a script file. SBS just has theirs more up to date and harder to understand.

Right, but mission scripts do not equal code.
I am pretty sure they are going to rewrite most is the code.
We will see when the CODEX sale starts.
