Settlers 4 CE application

Post by kulad » Thu Feb 21, 2019 9:08 am

Hi,

I find this game very challenging for CE application.

I am trying to find items stored in buildings.
Such as number of stones in Stone Maker building.
It seems the pointer is changing every time an item added to/removed from the building and/or the value is encrypted.

Neither changed/unchanged value nor increased/decreased searches are effective.
This is a realtime strategy game with many values are changing momentarily.
There are other types of buildings and same type of buildings owned by other races, all of them are working at the same time.

I was able to find the number of items in the area of the race.
But changing this number did not have an effect.
Items in the game are stored visually. If there are 8 stones in the graphics then there are 8 stones in the building.
Items are stored in 8pcs packs. If there are 20 stones in storage area they are stored in 3 stacks.(8+8+4)
Buildings can have only one pack maximum.

I hope somebody can lay a way to approach this game.

Thanks,
Kulad

Ok, I was working on this for several days.
The values were not encrypted but stored in BYTES. (Not 2bytes, nor 4bytes)
This confused me.
Can freeze the number in a building, one by one. The visual indication nxt to building changes for appropriate number.
Some cases, even though building has(seems to have) full stock, settlers do not venture that building to carry the goods.
Usually happens with stone makers and some mines.

Pointers change when game is minimized and stored back again.

I will try to follow the code back to where it starts.
Unfortunately I am not good at disassembler.
