Target address not found

I was trying to practice cheat search using DeSmuME, but a problem occurred. Even if I search for the number 99999 in the game, the specific address does not come up. To be more specific, I first set the value of 020BE918 to 99999, then saved it, used that save file in DeSmuME, searched for 99999, and tried to see if 020BE918 came up as a candidate. But it wasn't found. What could be causing this? DeSmuME has a memory view function, so when I checked 020BE918, it was 99999.
