Speedhack causing massive drop in FPS

I LOVE the Speedhack feature! As someone who enjoys videogames as an artform, it's amazing to be able to slow down gameplay and appreciate the small details in the environment or closely analyze animations.

I recently upgraded my system to an RX 7900 XTX with an AMD 5800x3D CPU. It's a beast. But when I enable speedhack now, I get FPS in the single digits. I was playing DMC: Devil May Cry (a 10 year old game) and it goes from 144 fps to 8 fps the minute I activate speedhack to 0.5 slowdown.

I've tried lowering the graphical setting, lowering the resolution, vsync on/off. Nothing works.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
