Speedhack not working

Hello.
I'm trying to use a speedhack for the game Final Fantasy III, Steam version. Sadly with the older FF games it seems speedhacking doesn't work.
I had the same problem with FF VI, which had a separate cheat engine table to enable the speedhack (viewtopic.php?t=341&start=15).
This game has a built-in speedup feature, but it has some limitations (it merges an auto-battle feature with speeding up the gameplay). From what I read online, this might be usable to find the value to edit to modify the playing speed. Problem is, I have absolutely no clue whatsoever on how to do any of this -- I barely know anything about Cheat Engine at all, I just use the tables I find, made by others.
I am going to make a topic in the request section too, but maybe someone can help me solve this myself if there is a specific thing I can look for to find the values to edit.
