Beginner looking for help.

Hi!

I'm a complete beginner and utterly clueless when it comes to hacking/modding so I didn't know how to summarize my post into a subject but I'm looking to learn to do something very specific.

There's this always-online game and I want to mod the appearance of a character. It would be a decensoring mod.

I know a person who can do the artistic side of the job and we have the character assets needed but we have nobody who knows how to locate the files or how to deal with the encryption of them and whatever else might be necessary.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't even know where to begin.
