Does anyone know if a Virtual Machine is as good as actually testing on another computer?

I'm sure we've all had those moments when a cheat works perfectly on your computer, but not on anyone else's. Usually it's from pointers, though it can also be an issue with compares. Usually I would test them on another computer before submitting, but I'm wondering if a VM would be just as good. I would test it myself, but my current laptop wouldn't be able to run it (one of the many reasons why I'm planning to upgrade), so I figured I may as well see if any of you had any luck.
How fair is it that you are the only one with a One Hit Kill? What if the AI had just as much power? That would definitely make the gameplay a bit more...EXTREME!

Nope, your VM will be too clean for proper testing.

Darn, good idea while it lasted.
