use the beta version 2.2.4, because this is the current version for GOG and Paradox launcher.

I wish I could. I haven't bought the game, and latest pirated version available is 2.2.3 (both GOG and steam).

Yes if player has release clause, you can decrease his loyalty to 0 and offer release clause, he'll most likely join.
