I am afraid I have not been able to replicate the issue. Every time I have tried cannot cause it to work again.
This doesn't seem to work for everyone, but I was able to get it to work myself and thought it might help people finish challenges/pet upgrades faster

Did you copy the files into the original game folder and overwrite all files when asked? And what operating system are you on? An easy way to cheat at the game still is to downgrade the game. You will get a few problems, but if you want to use it to get a bunch of materials/growth/etc then go back it is great.
