So you can't buy gold chests in offline mode? And what exactly is server side? The gold currency or the opening itself, meaning the server sends you back the items? If they've been lazy/wanting to save server resources, it's only the currency, which is a weak protection.

In that case it would be like this:
Gold currency is checked on the server and an okay is sent back so the game knows it can open the chest. Just find that part and edit it, so the code always jumps into the okay part.

If they send back the items instead of the okay, it would be more complicated, but you could find the code that creates the item locally and maybe use it to create items yourself whenever you want. It might be easier to edit existing items or to find that item creation in a different context though.

Just some thoughts on it. I'm still waiting for my download to finish

It's 100 € for the full game and they still want to charge more for ingame items? That pisses me off.

So, if gold can be changed, but doesn't actually let you buy more chests, what about the Spoils of War points you get from avenging other players?

isn't there an ingame way to earn gold? maybe the script it uses to tell the server you earned gold could be co-opted?

EDIT: though that does get awfully close to messing with online/multiplayer stuff.

The way to get gold is doing the online conquest of the game so the server send the gold to you

It would be the Shadows of the Past missions. All the ones where you play as Celebrimbor.

Thanks found the bug, weird. Also I don't have to quit the game, If i turn OFF the freeze arrows, and set Arrows to one less than max, then pick up some arrows ( or fast travel ), it works again. I'll look into this further

Edit: the same effect happens when you USE all your arrows (down to zero) and then turn on freeze.

Gold is stored on the server, it can't be "cheated" into the game. I found the "gold" location, but changing it is useless as when you purchase anything It asks the server if there is enough and fails to make the purchase.
