although you can modify how many you have, It seems like after you open the amount you have, you get nothing from them.
i'm trying to figure out how to make it stick. my blue weapon cases saved from when i modded a while back, but the other stuff has "fake" values. i'm assuming you have to physically pick up a case to lock in the value.
The value does stick, but they give you nothing when you open them.
i found out how to actually give you the amount you modify it to, but it's long convoluted process.
i'm going to use the Blue Weapon Case (BWC) as an example for this:
1. Change BWC value to desired amount (e.g. 2 > 100)
2. Go legitimately find and pick up a real BWC, then bring it back to base camp (I do the "Washed Up Container" side-quest to accomplish this)
3. Enter co-op staging area through vergil
4. Trigger a save while in staging area (craft something, change inventory, etc)
5. Return to base camp
phantom cases are discarded when you leave the coop staging area back into base camp, so if you did everything right you'll still have 100 BWC's
EDIT: Keep in mind you have to do this for each INDIVIDUAL case type. So until we find a way to consistently obtain purple/orange cases, those are near impossible to modify at the moment.
