Beat Hazard 2 loses most recent sava data after editing value to increase earned credits

Cheat engine doesn't work with Beat Hazard 2 unless it's played in Steam offline mode. (This is likely a cheat prevention). However, even when played in offline mode, while editing numeric values works to increase your earned credits, the game reverts to your previous save data (without the extra credits) after exiting and reloading the game. I'm not sure if this is a glitch or further cheat prevention by the game itself. If anyone has found a workaround for this, feel free to share.
FTR, I have no intention to cheat to increase my score in the online leaderboards. I just want to max my credits out to speed up the in-game grind for the perks.
