call of duty modern warfare 2 remastered bloody screen

hi, something i've always hated in the modern cod games is the horrid bloody screen when getting shot, so i decided to have a go at disabling it using cheat engine, only trouble is i keep ending up with a red checkerboard texture that covers the entire screen when i get shot.



i searched using string bloodsplat and found lots of things referencing blood on the screen, specifically h1_fullscreen_lit_bloodsplat which removed the effect but when dying and reloading it throws up an error saying save corrupt (it's not corrupt though) and crashes. i tried saving to a ct and reloading the game but instead of no bloody screen i just get a checkerboard texture but no crashing or save corrupt error.



can anyone help?
