The Stellaris team forgot to increment patch numbers? Looks like it at least :P My guess was as 2.8.1 is the AI beta they didn't wanna be bothered, especially as it was probably a tiny patch. the reason would be JIT-ing with different opcodes (see Cake's statement: the assembled form depends on several factors, such as CPU, OS, etc.). What bothers me is it was said the script does enable, but it works only in the first campaign map. Dunno how that can be, I cannot reproduce. Unfortunate...

It seems to work during the first game you start up. After you save a campaign, and leave/restart the game, it often seems to stop working forever.
